DESCRIPTION

The building’s main services and the plot’s shape were the crucial elements that led to the designing of a ‘Γ’ form building that is constituted by numerous rectangle and quadrangle volumes that are all linked to a central axis of movement that is parallel to the City’s main circular road. The main ward of the building is directed to the North-South axis and is an oblong volume that includes several public services and has an immediate connection to the diagonal external wall that is the main element of the whole project. The secondary east-west axis includes the Municipal Council Room and the Meeting Room. The amphitheatrical array of the rest of the building’s volumes that constitute the final result, has derived from the ground’s inclination and contributes to the optimal exploitation of the plot’s dispensable spaces. The variety of the heights, the forms and the depths and the slightly bended rooftop on the project’s one edge contribute to its final morphological formation that resembles the old city’s houses. This resemblance gives the building its exceptional character and its important role towards the City.
