DESCRIPTION

The designing of the project is based on the hypothetical line that is parallel to the National Road and to the circular axis. Our main goal was to create a road “lighthouse”, a building that looks like it is floating over the National Road and works as a beacon for the passersby. The relationship between the voyager and the building was the key to the designing process. The building’s branch sign constitutes a vital part of its existence and plays an important role on its promotion and on the information of the everyday traveller, so the size and its positioning formed the basic elements to the architectural composition.

The project’s basic designing material were the perforated aluminium panels that are attached to a galvanized metal bearing frame and create the crowning of the building and its main distinctive characteristic. The perforated aluminium panels create an effect that can differ during the day and night, depending on the light and the weather conditions. In that way the building transforms into an important element of the wider landscape.
